Trio of Tenors

Last year, the SUMB’s tenor saxophone section grew from 5 members to 16. Where will they go next year? To lead the way, here are your three tenor saxophone leaders!

Name: Dreya Cherry  Dreya_Cherry
Year: Sophomore
Major: Music Industry and Music History and Cultures
Hometown: Harleysville, PA
Position: Tenor Sax Section Leader
Favorite thing about band: I love the game day traditions. From the quad show to march over, it’s so much fun getting hyped and being goofy with your section.
Favorite activity outside of band: Reading and playing with cats.
Veteran tip for band camp/school: The whole band atmosphere can be a little overwhelming at first. Don’t be afraid to ask anyone for help with marching, school work, or just life. Everyone was in your shoes at one point and understands what it is like! Also, the Starbucks near the Carrier Dome takes SUperfood money.
Who’s your celebrity crush? Adam Scott. And I wish Tom Bergeron was my celebrity dad.
Where IS Waldo? Have you checked under the table?
What would be written on your tombstone? “I’m alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic!”

Name: Kate FletcherKate_Fletcher
Year: Sophomore
Major: English Education and English and Textual Studies
Hometown: Pennington, NJ
Position: Tenor Saxophone Section Leader
Favorite thing about marching band: the sense of camaraderie in pursuing the common goal of entertaining The Greater Syracuse Area and The Universe
Favorite activity outside of band: dogspotting and writing
Veteran tip for band camp/school: If you think something is cool, do it with no shame!!
What are you listening to this summer/favorite summer band?
I’ve been listening to Summer Hits of the 90s and Best of the 2000s to fulfill my dream of being a dad and an angsty teen at the same time.
If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?
For dead, I would choose Former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. For living, I would choose Ruth Bader Ginsberg. If I can only choose one, I would issue a series of tests for the two to compete for the honor of attending this dinner.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Once I ate a bowl of guinea pig food in milk as one does with cereal. I like to live life on the edge.

Name: Hailee SalvesenHailee_Salvesen
