Saturdays are for relaxing, shopping, TV binging… and more Section Leader Spotlights!
Up next from the Saxophones, we have Kate McHugh! Kate is from Cleveland, OH and is a leader from the Tenor Saxes. Kate spent her summer interning at a plastics company. As an intern, Kate was researching the mechanical properties of polymers. Outside of work, she was attempting to read every book she gets her hands on and trying to relax before we hit the field! Some advice Kate has for our rookies is to “Bring a fan for your dorm room. Band Camp week is HOT and there’s no air conditioning in the dorms.”
Going over to the low brass, we have Sonia Richman! Sonia is in the Trombone section and the other Music Director for The Sour Sitrus Society this year! Also a Cleveland native, Sonia spent her summer here at ‘Cuse giving campus tours and facilitating the SU High Ropes Course. In her spare time, Sonia has been climbing her way to victory at the local rock gym both in a competitive and casual manner! Sonia’s advice for incoming rookies is to expect to be hot and sweaty the whole time, but that on game day it is totally worth it.
